At October 8, 2025, ThermHex Waben received the TecPart Innovation Award together with Gubesch Group at the K \u2013 The World’s No.1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber in D\u00fcsseldorf for the super-lightweight underbody panel constructed for the Porsche 911. <\/p>\n

The panel is at least one kilogram lighter than the previous series without compromising on mechanical properties. The new underbody component comprises a ThermHex Waben GmbH sandwich panel with a hexagonal honeycomb core made of polypropylene (PP) and cover layers made of PP with glass fiber reinforcement. <\/p>\n

Compared to the previous LWRT component, the new honeycomb sandwich semi-finished product from the patented ThermHex production process does not use glass fibers in the core, but only in the load-bearing cover layers. The new underbody panel, consisting of three components, now weighs exactly 1.2 kg less and has passed all hardness and durability tests at Porsche. <\/p>\n
