Two weeks ago ThermHex Waben GmbH exhibited at the JEC World in Paris. At the world’s largest business exhibition for composites, the honeycomb core specialist presented its new Organosandwich as well as other product variations.

Huge interest in the Organosandwich

More than 40,000 visitors were at the JEC World 2018 and many of them also visited the ThermHex stand. CEO Jochen Pflug and his team presented the different types of ThermHex honeycomb cores as well as the many areas of application. The newly developed Organosandwich aroused particular interest.

The semi-finished products, consisting of two very thin layers of thermoplastic fibre composites (glass fibre polypropylene) and a ThermHex polypropylene honeycomb core inside, offer high rigidity with minimum weight without the need of additional stiffening ribs. These semi-finished products are particularly cost-effective if they are applied to a honeycomb core within the continuous ThermHex production process and bonded to it. The interest in the Organosandwich is particularly high in the automotive sector.

Polypropylene honeycomb cores for a wide range of applications

The other ThermHex product variations also convinced the visitors. The customer feedback was positive and confirmed how successfully ThermHex polypropylene honeycomb cores are used in a wide variety of applications. They are used for the production of rigid truck boxes, in the interior construction of ships, in modern pool construction, in the automotive sector and also in furniture production. Additional to the exhibition ThermHex published its 5mm core in the JEC Composites Magazine no. 119. The readers could touch and test the honeycomb core material and received an impression of the ThermHex core.
