In the run-up to the Lightweight Construction Users’ Meeting of the trade journal Konstruktionspraxis, the magazine presents three materials for the automotive industry on its website.
A lightweight sandwich semi-finished product from Thermhex Waben, consisting of two glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene cover layers each consisting of two layers of UD tape in 0°/90° composite and a polypropylene honeycomb core. The lightweight Organosandwich helps to save more than 80 % weight compared to a monolithic construction. It is thermally formable, can be functionalized by injection molding and can be used in a wide variety of automotive applications – from bonnet linings to parcel shelves.
